Saxophonist, bandleader, educator, and bagpiper –
Isaac Dye is excited to be back in the Seattle area.
Isaac earned his BA in Music Performance from Whitworth University (Spokane, WA), studied with George Garzone in Boston, and after being selected by the New Jersey Jazz Society to receive the prestigious Pee Wee Russel Scholarship, he pursued his MM in Jazz Studies at Rutgers University (New Brunswick and Newark, NJ). At Rutgers he studied with Ralph Bowen, Conrad Herwig, Victor Lewis and Bill O’Connell.
An established performer, Isaac has been heard in world class venues in NYC, NJ and PA including The Blue Note, Club Bonafide, Chris’ Jazz Cafe, as well as many engagements with top wedding bands and funk/pop groups across the east coast’s Tri-State Area. An experienced educator, his students have been selected to participate in various all-state and audition-only ensembles, earned top marks at solo festivals, participated in the GRAMMY Camp - Jazz Session and accepted to top universities in NJ/NYC (Manhattan School of Music, William Patterson, Colombia, Rutgers, and others).
Isaac is also a competitive GRADE II bagpiper and was selected as “Best Newcomer” at the Phoenix Scottish Games (2003), and has won multiple first prizes in solo competitions across many highland games in Arizona, Nevada, and Alaska
